Taking inventory

While I've got a few hours to relax, I figured I'd start putting together my stat book for the trip so far:

Flights taken, Germany to Afghanistan: 3
Flights taken, inside Afghanistan: 7
Flights taken in helicopters: 6
Total time in helicopters: 5 hours

Trips taken in humvees: 8
Total time spent in humvees: 16 hours
Time spent waiting for humvees to get out of the mud: 8 hours
Time spent driving humvees: 0 hours

Cities I've slept in within Afghanistan: 6
Number of beds I've had in country: 8
Most consecutive nights in the same bed: 4
Worst bed: This pile of hay. Seriously.

So far, so good.

It's good to know that our armed forces are smart enough to recognize a bad idea, such as letting Cap'n drive a multi-ton military vehicle. Good job, boys!

See, now I thought you of all people would be disappointed that they didn't at least let me try for a few miles. After all, they let you fly planes...

The pics are awesome. I think Tom could edit them into a film entitled "Captain Awesome Goes to Afganastan". I'm sure it would be a hit. We could probably sell out the "county" theater in Doylestown. Mr K. (next door) says Hi and wants you to put together a presentation for the Arch Wood social studies classes. I'm giving you fair warning. He's serious.
Your Mom and the triplets are still up the mountains where the humidity is much lower and the temperature is 10 degrees cooler. It's awful quiet around here with Mom and Beth away and Kate working. The cats are not talking much either.

Leo,
Did you have any fun sleeping on the ground in a bed. Also sleeping in hay must have been soo much fun,but you probably got a lot of bugs all over yourself.
