Pittsburgh's whole roster salary is so low because Ogden Newspapers owns a controlling share of the Pirates. Having worked for them for six years, I can attest to their cheap ways and how "well" they pay their employees. So, if Pittsburgh actually wants a winning baseball program, they need to figure out a way to buy out G. Ogden Nutting.
